Hottest accessory trends for 2010

For me, writing a list of the hottest accessory  trends of 2010 is not going to be a challenge. I live it, breathe it, buy it, source it, wear it and like most modern fashionista's, am  slightly obsessed with it. I myself am the accessory queen, I think any normal person would shudder at the amount of Bags, Scarves, Shoes and Jewellery I own, but hey, they give me the chance to express my individuality and to stand out from the crowd. I often receive comments on the pieces I choose to wear and how they complement the overall look I am going for. Accessories can change the entire look of an outfit. Just a couple of small changes can make your look  casual or dressy.

This season I am loving Feathers. The feathered trend popped up on catwalks of 08/09, and now is the time to get your feather on. I myself am obsessed with the feathered headbands that are everywhere at the moment, like skinny alice bands with feathers popping up out the top, super stylish think Nicole Ritchie.

The Tribal trend is to continue in accessories for 2010, from shoes to handbags and even jewellery, especially cuffs. Look for tribal prints and patterns. My fave would have to be the leopard print, goes with everything especially black, and never goes out of style.

The colour of 2010 is Turquoise. Think, scarves, clothing and  jewellery. Necklaces with bold turquoise jewels, turquoise earrings, and rings with a big, bold turquoise stone in the middle and of course piles of bangles. Whatever you do this year,  turquoise is sure to brighten up your spring and give you that right on trend look.

Handbags are going from big, bold and slouchy to a smaller, squared off boxy shaped bag with long straps that can be worn over the shoulder or across the body to free up your hands for more important things, like a nice hot latte. Be sure to check out House of Harlow 1960, by Nicole Ritchie who will be adding handbags to the already awesome collection, but you will have to wait until Spring 2011.

Cocktail Rings are still everywhere in 2010, chunky, sparkly and glamorous. And what a statement. Especially paired with your fave LBD (Little black dress), or jeans, a crisp white shirt and your fave boyfriend blazer. Super stylish.

Flower Pins in your hair, on the shoulder of a dress or the lapel of your boyfriend blazer. Hot stuff for Spring 2010. Look for spring colours such as greens, pinks and purples.

Scarves are hot and can be worn anyway you like. Around your neck hanging down in front in place of a necklace, used as a belt in your fave pair of jeans, tucked into the collar of your shirt for a super stylish look, or even tied around the handle of your fave black bag to give your look a burst of colour.
